Haggerston Castle is located just South of the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed around 1-hour North of Newcastle and 1-hour South of Edinburgh on the A1 trunk road that makes exploring not only Northumberland simple but also the surrounding areas of Tyne and Wear and Scotland.
The Northumberland coast is a short walk from the park and the magnificent Bamburgh Castle and spiritual Holy Island are just a short drive from the park.
The park can be easily reached from all parts of the UK thanks to it’s location right on the A1 main road from Edinburgh to London, but it is also easily reach from the Scottish Borders, Cumbria and the Central belt in Scotland.
Berwick-upon-Tweed has public transport links by road and rail to most towns and cities in England and Scotland especially those in the North of England and the Southern and Central parts of Scotland.
Out and About
Berwick-upon-Tweed is the nearest town to Haggerston Castle and is a fantastic mix of historic town, with it ramparts and town walls and seaside town with a bustling market square, cafes, shops and restaurants.
Berwick is also where the river Tweed meets the North Sea which creates a beautiful estuary. Berwick is also home to a mainline train station with regular trains to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Alnwick and many major towns and cities across England and Scotland.
Nearby attractions and places well worth a visit includes Bamburgh Castle, Holy Islands and Seahouses which are all just a short drive from the park, and all give a great insight into this special part of the historic county of Northumberland.
