Dymchurch Caravan Holidays and Holiday Parks

The village offers a relaxed destination on the Romney Marshes where a holiday is all about relaxing and taking in the stunning views of the surround coast and countryside.
Whilst Dymchurch doesn’t have a wide range of attractions to offer holidaymakers, the history of the region can be explored at both the Dymchurch Martello Tower and the Dymchurch Redoubt but for many it is the draw of the villages vast sandy beach that makes the village the perfect choice for a holiday in the South East.

Dymchurch Caravan Holidays
The relaxing and peaceful nature of Dymchurch means that it is a great place to getaway from all of the stresses of life and it also means that it only has a limited number of caravan holiday parks but the good news for those wanting to holiday on this part of the Kent coast is that the parks that are on offer are of a high quality.
Dymchurch Attractions
Dymchurch has all that you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday on the Kent coast including a small number of interesting sights, a beautiful beach and even a couple of pubs.
The beautiful sandy beach at Dymchurch stretches for miles and miles and offers the perfect location for a day spend simply enjoying spending time together as a family. From a game of beach cricket to simply sitting and reading a book, there is nothing better than a day at the beach and thanks to the villages location on the South coast, Dymchurch offers some of the warmest weather in the UK.
Perhaps the biggest attraction for visitors to this section of the south coast is the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, a heritage railway that runs for over 13 miles of coastal track.
The heritage railway features a number of steam locomotives and links the Cinque port of Hythe to Dungeness via Dymchurch, St Mary’s bay, New Romney and Romney Sands.
That makes the railway not just a great day out enjoy a trip down memory lane but it also makes it easy to explore this historical part of Kent.
The village can trace its routes back the building up of the Romney Marsh, with the earliest known structure built in the modern day village been the New Hall but that was destroyed by fire. It the 17th and 18th century, the coast the village sits on was rife with smugglers and the area around Dymchurch quickly became one of the business smuggler locations.
In the 19th century, the whole of Britain’s coast became fortified and this was especially true for the south east coast and it is from that fortification that the villages key historic sites are linked.
Several Martello Towers can be found on a walk along the seafront in the village and whilst many have fallen into the sea or have become private property, Dymchurch Martello Tower (also known as Tower 24) has become a museum owned by English Heritage.
To act a supply depot for the Martello Towers, 2 Redoubts were built in and around the village and one of these still survives with the Dymchurch Redoubt closed to the public but viewable by walking along the seafront.
The Redoubt was built during the Napoleonic war to prevent against French invasion.
As a coastal village and holiday resort, the village really comes alive during the main holiday season and especially during the summer months when a number of local fetes and gatherings take place and there is also a small amusement park for younger kids.
Location
The village of Dymchurch is located on the Kent coast in the South East of England, between the popular seaside resort of Hastings and the port town of Dover.
The village sits across the Strait of Dover from Calais in France.
Transport
If you are heading to the resort suing your own transport, it is relatively straight forward from most parts of the UK although as it is located on the south coast, it can be a long drive for many of us.
For those heading from the Midlands, the North of England, Wales, Scotland and most parts of the country that is not along the south coast, the village can be reach via the M25 and then the M20 with a number of options from there depending on which side of the village you are staying.
For those heading from other parts of the south coast to the west of the village, the A259 links Dymchurch with Hastings and for those heading from or parts of Kent, the resort can be reached via the A2 and A20 from Dover.
For those relying on public transportation, the resort is harder to reach as although there are good links to the nearby Folkstone, Ashford and Rye, you are then relying on expensive taxi rides or local bus services to reach the village and your chosen holiday park.
Out and About
To the east of the resort is the town and port of Folkstone from where you can travel via Eurotunnel across the English Channel and to France for a day out on the continent or if you prefer you can reach the continent via numerous ferry services from Dover or via Eurostar from Ashford.
Dover is home to a number of historic sites including its iconic White Cliffs and its imposing castle.
To the west of the resort is the popular seaside holiday resort of Hastings which offers lots of attractions and it is also the gateway to Battle and the historic battle fields of 1066.
To the north of the village is the historic city of Canterbury whilst nature lovers can easily explore both the Kent Downs and High Weald Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
