Fareham is a market town located between the cities of Southampton and Portsmouth near to the coast in the county of Hampshire.

The town has historic links to the brick trade, with bricks from Fareham used to build the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London but nowadays it is the natural beauty of the town, its great location and the beauty of the coast which can perhaps best be enjoyed at Fareham Creek with has a marina full of yachts that sits at the top of Portsmouth harbour.

Location

Fareham is located just off of the M27 motorway to the west of Portsmouth and to the east of Southampton making it an easier town to reach and a perfect base for exploring the south coast.

Transport

If you are arriving to the town using your own transport it is straightforward, although often a long journey for many, to reach the town as it sits on the M27 motorway.

From there you can link up to all towns and cities across the south of England and by using the A3 at Portsmouth or the M3 at Southampton, you can link to the M25. From there you can link to all parts of England, Scotland and Wales.

If you are reliant on public transport it is also straight forward to reach the town as it has it’s own train station and regular services to many major towns and cities.

Direct services include trains to London Waterloo, London Victoria, Gatwick Airport, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton, Cardiff and Bristol Temple Meads.

Out and About

Southampton is just to the west of Fareham and is a thriving major city with lots to offer. The city is perhaps most famous for its world class cruise port where you can see many of the world’s biggest cruise ships but there is much more to the city including great culture, shopping, sporting facilities and historical sites all waiting to be explored.

If you continue past Southampton you are soon into the iconic New Forest National Park where you have mile after mile of beautiful forest just waiting to be explored. There are lots of walking and hiking trials as well as many small villages that are perfect for exploring whilst you can also be assured of spotting a famous New Forest Pony when spending time in the area.

To the east of the town is the up and coming city and seaside resort of Portsmouth where it’s historic naval harbour is now an almost perfect blend of new and old. From the top of the now iconic Spinnaker tower you can take in the views of the area and out across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, with the observation deck been the ideal place to see the many naval ships that use the natural harbour of Portsmouth as their home base.

You can see the history of the navy in the city Old Naval Docks where iconic ships such as the Mary Rose can be explored.

From both Southampton and Portsmouth you can take regular ferry services over to the Isle of Wight for a fun day out or why not head to the Channel Islands or even the continent for a day out with a difference?

To the north west of Fareham is the historic city of Winchester whilst to the north east is the beautiful South Downs National Park.
