Clacton-on-Sea Caravan Holidays

No matter if you are wanting a small and relaxing caravan park on the Essex coast to a large all action holiday park in Clacton, the resort has lots of choice when it comes to holiday parks to make sure that you can find the right one for you and your family.

Clacton-on-Sea Attractions

As a large town and a long standing popular family seaside holiday resort, it is no surprise that Clacton offers a good choice of attractions that are mostly aimed at the whole family enjoying together.

As with most seaside resorts, it is the seafront in the Essex resort that is the biggest attraction for holidaymakers.

Amongst the most popular attractions on the seafront include a beautiful sandy beach that is ideal for spending time together, having fun as a family when the weather is good. The towns pier is also a great place to spend a few hours when the sun shines with rollercoasters, amusement arcades, rides and shows all on offer- whilst you can of course simply enjoy the stunning vies out over the sea.

The pier also offers a number of places to grab and drink or a bite to eat and acts as the tourist hub of the resort.

If the towns main beach is too busy for your liking, the nearby Jaywick Beach is often much quieter and is a great place to relax and perhaps read a book or why not explore some of the local history of this part of Essex by visiting the Jaywick Martello Tower?

Whilst looking out over the sea can make you want to jump in or to try something more adrenaline filled, the sea around the resort is busy with shipping traffic heading to the ports of Harwich and Folkstone and is of course never quite as warm as it looks but if you want to enjoy water sports whilst on holiday, you don’t have far to go.

The towns Curve Wake Park is a modern and professional water sports centre that allows you to safely enjoy a day of adrenaline filled action.

The towns Garden of Remembrance is not only a colourful and relaxing spot but it is a great monument to lost ones.

If a night at the theatre is to the liking of you and your family, the towns Princes Theatre offers a good choice of shows and high quality productions whilst the West Cliff theatre also offers shows, mostly through the main tourist season.

Location

Clacton-on-Sea is located on the Essex coast, in the South East of England, in between Jaywick and Holland-on-Sea.

The town is almost adjacent to Rotterdam in the Netherlands and offers views out towards Margate in Kent as well of Ostend and Middelburg in Belgium.

Transport

The resort is relatively easy to reach from most parts of the country as it sits at the end of the A133 which links to the M11 and M25 via the A12/A120.

If you are heading to the town from East Anglia, it is a just a short trip down the A12 or M11, whilst if you are coming form Scotland, the North of England or the Midlands, simply head to the M25 or use the A1 from where you can link to the M11.

From the south, the west and from Wales, again all you need to do is head for the M25 which of course links to most main national motorways.

If you are heading to Clacton using public transport, the good news is that it is also relatively simply to reach the town as there are a number of long distance coach services, although many require a chance in London.

Perhaps the easiest way to reach the town is via its own train station which sits on the aptly named Sunshine Coast Line.

This links Great Eastern Main line at Colchester, so there are good links to local towns and cities with regular trains to Colchester and Chelmsford whilst you can also get direct trains to Stratford and Liverpool Street station in Liverpool from where you can connect to just about every town and city in England, Scotland and Wales via the numerous mainline stations in the capital.

Out and About

The town sits down the coast from the port town of Harwich and close to the border with Suffolk.

To the west of the town is the historic city of Colchester which as a former capital city of England, it offers lots of incredible historic sites as well as a number of more modern attractions including a high quality zoo.

Another city well worth visiting is Chelmsford whilst slightly further afield but easily reach via train is the capital city of London and it’s almost endless options for a day out. Why not head to the west end for an afternoon tea and a West End Musical or take in a major sporting event or head to one of the many world class museums?
