Rye Caravan Holidays and Holiday Parks
Nearby Hastings
Rye is a small town located near to the south coast of England in the county of East Sussex.

The town enjoys a beautiful location at the confluence of 3 rivers, the Rother, the Tillingham and the Brede. That makes it a haven for many species of wildlife, which visitors can enjoy simply by taking a stroll around town and out into the Rother District.

In Medieval times the modern day Rye was an important member of the Cinque Ports confederation, it was at the head of an embayment of the English Channel and was at that time surrounded by the sea.

Modern day Rye is set back 2 miles from the coast but it still retains a coastal feel and via Rye harbour it has a small fishing fleet, a small marina for yachts and other vessels to go alongside the historic pubs, tea rooms and general old worldly feel of the holiday destination.

Rye Caravan Holidays

As a small and relaxed town that the natural beauty of it’s surroundings are the biggest attraction it is no surprise that many looking to holiday in Rye are looking a relaxing getaway and one of the best ways to connect to nature and to relax whilst on holiday is, in our opinion, on a caravan holiday park.

The town may not have the same choice of caravan holiday parks of near neighbour Hastings, it does offer a small range of good quality caravan holiday parks, many of which you can find right here at CaraHols.

Rye Attractions

For many holidaymakers the biggest attraction of Rye is the town itself.

Set in a rural location, next to the coast and surrounded by rivers, Rye offers a unique location that makes it almost impossible to do any other than relax and that is what a holiday should be about for many.

The natural beauty of the town can be enjoyed at multiple places including Rye Harbour, a natural Nature Reserve which has well marked paths from the town down to the sea for a family friendly stroll.

The nearby beach at Camber Sands offers miles of shingle beach whilst Broomhill Sand sis often a quieter beach where you can get away from it all and read a book or enjoy spending time with your family whilst having great views out over the English Channel.

The town Castle and the impressive Ypres Tower gives an insight into the turbulent history of the past, which can be studied at the Rye Heritage Centre whilst a walk around the town centre, including Mermaid Street, takes you back in time.

The town offers a good range of small and independent traders including shops, bars, cafes, tea rooms and restaurants.

Location

Rye is located near to the south coast of England in the county of East Sussex. It is just a few miles to the north east of the all action holiday resort and historic town of Hastings and is to the south west of Folkstone.

The town is located on the A259, the main coastal road in the area, which makes it easy for holidaymakers to explore the many towns, cities and resorts found nearby.

Transport

Whilst the trip to Rye is a long one for many of us, due its location on the south coast, the good news is that for most holidaymakers it is relatively straightforward to reach the town.

Sitting on the A259, the town is connected to most parts of the south coast so if you are coming from Kent, Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex, Devon or Cornwall, it is easy to reach Rye.

If you are coming form other parts of the UK, the town has links, via the A259/A2070 to Ashford, from where you can reach the m25 via the M20 and of course you can reach most parts of England, Scotland and Wales via the M25.

If you are relying on public transport, it can be a bit trickier. There are some long distance coach services that call into the town but most will need to connect via London and then Hastings.

The good news is that the town has it’s own train station which is on the Marshlink line. There are direct train services to Ashford (where you can connect to HS1 and even onto international services via Eurostar), Winchelsea and Hastings (from where there are direct services to London).

Out and About

The popular seaside resort of Hastings is located just further down the coast and offers a good range of attractions including the nearby battle fields associated with 1066.

To the north east of the town are the ports of Folkstone and Dover and further north is Ashford. From those places you can enjoy a day out on the continent either via ferry, Eurotunnel or Eurostar.

Nature lovers can enjoy walks and hikes around the beautiful High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty whilst you can also enjoy days out in the capital city of London.
