When you think of the resort of Paignton and the attractions on offer there, for many it will be the world famous Paignton Zoo that comes to mind for many visitors and holidaymakers. The zoo offers a wide range of animals from all parts of the globe and is known for it’s large enclosures and for informative talks.

With the weather on the southern coast of Devon been amongst the best in the UK, it is no surprise that the beaches in and around Paignton are still such a big draw for holidaymakers. From a day sunbathing to spending time together as a family enjoying a game of beach cricket or splashing around in the shallows, a beach day is not only a great way to relax and spend time together but it is of course free!

Location

Paignton is located on the southern coast of Devon, almost halfway between Exeter and Plymouth and with views not only out over the English Channel towards France but also across Torbay towards Dorset and Weymouth.

Transport

For those heading to Paignton using there own transport, the resort can be easily reached from all parts of England, Scotland and Wales via the A380 which takes you straight to the M5 motorway.

For those heading from the west and from Cornwall, the resort can be reached via the A38.

If you are relying on public transport to reach the town, it is also straight forward as Paignton has it’s own train station, which offers direct links to many of the towns in the south west of England but also offers inter city services to London and up to Manchester in the north west of England.

The train station is also a terminus for the Dartmouth Steam Railway heritage service.

There is a good range of local bus services to and from the town as well as long distance coach services form most parts of the south and further afield.

Out and About

As mention, the town is located on the English Riviera, in Torbay and that makes it easy to see a number of resorts.
