May Day Holiday Parks

May Day is a public holiday here in the UK and across much of continental Europe. Celebrated on the 1st of May, it is an ancient festival to celebrate the start of Spring.

In the 19th century, the day become associated with socialism and communism as the day become known at the International Workers Day.

Here in the UK, May Day and the may Day bank Holiday is more associated with farming and rural communities who have many rites and celebrations including the crowing of a may queen, dancing around a maypole and the whole community coming together at a village fete.

It wasn’t until 1979 when May Day, the 1st of May, become an officially recognised Bank Holiday and since then it has become a popular time for families to spend together and to go away on holiday together.

It is no surprise that this period is also a popular time for people to enjoy caravan holiday and it is no surprise why.

May is when the weather here in the UK tends to start warming up and it is when the main holiday season in resorts up and down the country are in full swing and offer all that they have to offer.

As a Bank Holiday and a School Holiday, the while family have the time to spend together and with caravan holiday parks often been built and designed with families in mind, they are the first choice for many when thinking about a family getaway during the early May Bank holiday but that of course can often lead to an increase in price.
