Exmouth Caravan Holidays
Of course our focus is on caravan holiday parks here at CaraHols and whilst Exmouth isn’t home to a wide range of holiday parks, it is home to one of the biggest and, many say, best holiday parks in the UK.
Exmouth Attractions
As only a small resort, Exmouth isn’t blessed with the same number of visitor attractions as most other resorts we feature here on CaraHols, but it does offer something many of us find valuable whilst away on holiday and that is the chance to relax and unwind in peaceful surrounds.
For many the biggest draw to Exmouth is the small sandy beach and seafront, where you can simply enjoy spending time together with your family or enjoy a long walk taking in the stunning views out over the English Channel.
For those with younger children, a day out at the nearby World of Country Life is a great way to not only enjoy spending time with many of the animals found throughout the south west but you also get an insight into farming life in Devon.
For older animal lovers why not visit the nearby Bird of Brey Centre or search for some local wildlife along the Exmouth and Orcombe Point Walk which is also a great way to take in the beautiful coastal scenery of the South West.
The Manor Gardens are a great place to spend a few hours, especially throughout the warmer summer months whilst a popular local landmark is A La Ronde, a unique National Trust owned house.
Location
Exmouth is located around 11 miles to the southwest of the city of Exmouth and on the east bank of the River Exe.
Due to sitting at the mouth of the river, it does make it harder for those wanting to explore the west as there is no crossing over the river nearby so you have to head in land, to the M5 near Exeter.
Transport
For those with access to their own transport, the resort is easy to reach as it is close to the M5 motorway where you can then connect to all areas of England, Scotland and Wales.
For those coming from other parts of the south coast and from the immediate north east, the resort can be reached by the A30 or the A3052.
For those rely on public transport, the resort can still be easily reached as it has its own train station, which sits on a branch line running from Exeter St David, from there you can connect to most parks of the England, Scotland and Wales once again.
Out and About
Just a short drive from Exmouth is the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which continues east to the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Both of these areas are great places to head off for a walk and to take in the stunning beauty of the region.
To the north of the resort is the historical city of Exeter which offers a great range of cafes, bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities as well as a number of attractions and sites of interest including Exeter Cathedral.
Further north is the popular Devon town of Tiverton, the beautiful Taunton and the iconic Exmoor National Park whilst to the west of the resort is the hugely popular seaside resort of Torbay.
There you will find the towns of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham as well as a wide range of visitor attractions.
Further west is the seaside town, resort and port of Plymouth, from where you can enjoy days out on the continent via regular ferry services or why not head to Weymouth in the east to enjoy looking round some of the most expensive real estate in Europe?
The iconic Dartmoor National Park, home to its famous Dartmoor Ponies, offers a wide range of walking and hiking opportunities including many waterfall and river walks that give you the chance to explore and see lots of local wildlife.
The resorts location makes it relatively straight forward to explore the best of the south west of England including Devon, Cornwall and Somerset and thanks to it’s railway station, you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere to park or finding your way around as the majority of the town and cities in the region can be reached via the regular train services.
