Dawlish Warren Attractions

Whilst there is only a limited amount of attractions in Dawlish Warren, that in it’s self is one of the biggest attractions for holidaymakers to the village.

Whilst there are a small number of local shops, pubs and a bakery in the village, the main feature is the miles of beautiful sandy beach that is just a short stroll from the vast majority of caravan holiday parks.

Dawlish Warren beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind and to simply spend time together as a family or as a couple. There is a beach front bar/restaurants and you can walk from the village right up to the mouth of the River Exe with views over to Exmouth.

Sitting behind the beach is the Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve, which is home to many coastal animals and fauna.

One of the great features of the village is that it is just a short walk from Dawlish and its range of tea rooms and local attractions or you can use the villages own railway station to explore the region including regular trains to Exeter to the north and down to the Torbay region of the English Riviera in the south.

Location

The village is located on the southern Devon coast, to the south of Exeter, near to the mouth of the River Exe.

It is in a relatively rural and remote area whilst still offering good connections to nearby towns and resorts but you still get the piece and quiet that so many want from a Devon holiday.

Transport

For those arriving in the resort using there own transport, the remote nature of village means that it is a drive along small roads back to the M5 but from there it is easy to connect to all parts of England, Scotland and Wales.

For exploring the region, that can be done via the main A38 ‘Devon Expressway’ and the A380, both of which links to the resort to all parts of Devon and Cornwall.

For those relying on public transport, the best way to reach the village is via its own train station with trains linking the resort to the city of Exeter, form where you can link to most parts of the UK. Some trains go further afield including Plymouth and Paignton in the south and onto Bristol and some services to London to the north and north east.

Out and About

For those wanting to explore the region, you are in luck as there is everything form iconic national parks to historic cities and from historic seaside towns to all action resorts just a short drive, bus or train ride away.

Within walking distance is the resort of Dawlish and it is here that you can enjoy a traditional Devon seaside experience. The town is home to a number of tea rooms and creamery’s that offer the chance to experience an iconic Devonshire cream tea. You can also find a number of local shops, small seaside attractions and a beautiful sandy beach backed by the iconic seafront railway.

To the south of the resort is the small seaside town of Teignmouth, home to a number of local attractions including a pier but it is the resorts in Torbay where most of the biggest attractions in the region are.

The all action resort that make up the English Riviera all offer something different. Torquay is a bustling town as well as seaside resort with a decent range of shops, bars, cafes and other attractions whilst the nearby Babbacombe is home to one of the worlds leading Model Village and an iconic cliff railway.

Paignton enjoy a central location in Torbay and offer lots for holidaymakers to enjoy including it’s famous zoo, home to animals form all across the globe.

In the south of Torbay is Brixham. Here you can get a taste of the history of this part of Devon as the town remains a lot of the atmosphere and features that made this a popular port for pirates.

To the east of Dawlish Warren is the iconic Dartmoor National Park, which is a great place to explore the many hiking and walking trials, so don’t forget your walking boots?

To the north, you will find the historic city of Exeter which is the county town of Devon and hosts a good number of historic sites, including Exeter Cathedral, as well as a wide range of local and national shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
